Homeless animal overpopulation
is a crisis.

In our state the number one cause of death among companion animals is euthanasia.

Angela Hill visits SpayMart

Angela Hill and the filming crew of WWLTV, spent August 31, 2009 at the SpayMart sanctuary profiling the organization.  It’s a wonderful segment that includes interviews between Angela and Lynn Chiche, the sanctuary director, detailing the shelter’s mission, objectives, immediate needs, and future plans.  It gives the public an opportunity to view the shelter on a personal level and experience daily life in the same manner 285 felines do, including cleaning, medicating, etc.  Many of the cats available for adoption are highlighted with close-up shots and their personal stories. Our special thanks to Angela and the crew for their time and commitment to the animals of our community.

The Sad Truth

Thousands of cats and dogs will end up in Louisiana's animal shelters this year. Sadly, more than 80% will be destroyed because there aren't enough homes to go around. Dogs and cats are given the death penalty for a crime they didn't commit—being born. Pet owners can save themselves and other taxpayers the millions of dollars spent each year in animal sheltering and control programs by getting their animals sterilized. It costs approximately $120 to capture, house, kill and dispose of an animal compared to an average of $75 to spay or neuter that animal. This is the ONLY humane solution and SpayMart is committed to:

  • Addressing the issue of pet overpopulation by education and aggressive adoption and spay/neuter assistance programs
  • Reducing the number of euthanized animals
  • Aiding indigent pet owners when funds are available

Please spay or neuter your companion animal
