Lynn Chiche: President
Affiliated with animal programs for over 15 years. Co-founded Southern Animal Foundation in 1995. Spearheaded efforts to purchase Louisiana’s first mobile spay/neuter clinic, responsible for sterilizing thousands of animals. Served on the committee with New Orleans City Council, Animal Control, and LASPCA to establish standards of care in the Greater New Orleans area. Received the Civic Award of the Jefferson Chapter of the Alliance for Good Government on August 14, 2006, for her heroic water rescue efforts of New Orleans animals stranded in flooded homes following Hurricane Katrina.
Current radio personality and former anchorperson on WWL-TV, the largest TV station in the area. She lends her well-known concern for animals on many occasions and is responsible for giving SpayMart needed media coverage on animal issues.
Secretary/Treasurer. Volunteers with numerous non-profits in the area addressing community issues as well as animal welfare. Mrs. Porter’s love of animals is responsible for her joining SpayMart’s Board, directing financial matters of the organization.
Real Estate Manager who volunteers with SpayMart and coordinates Kitten Foster Program.
Spaymart Accountant who is retired; mostly recently worked at Tulane’s School of Medicine.
Patty Hegwood is a New Orleans native and former founder & co-owner of Ark Animal Hospital in Jefferson, La. She and her family stayed in New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina and started immediate rescue and triage efforts after the storm. Patty moved the following year to work at Best Friends Animal Society -the Nations largest no kill sanctuary. She currently serves as the Director of Volunteer & Visitor Engagement for both local and national programming.
