Bella’s Story of Cruelty, Rescue and Recovery

Bella’s Story

January 2014

As many of you are aware, SpayMart has set up a special fund known as the “Felicity Fund” specifically designed to aid indigent and homeless animals who simply have nowhere else to turn. We are currently seeking donations to help ”Bella,” a small, gently grey and white female cat who was brutally shot above the right eye. Read her story on The bullet passed through Bella’s eye, her boney orbit and exited her cheek. Belonging to a colony of semi-feral cats, her caretaker noticed her missing for several days. When she at last re-surfaced, he was shocked and horrified at her condition. Barely able to stand and disorientated, he knew she required immediate medical attention in order to survive. Living on a fixed income and disabled, the caretaker realized this expense was out of the question. However, he knew about SpayMart’s work with feral cats and contacted the organization in hopes of receiving help and saving Bella’s life.

SpayMart was able to provide the medical attention and loving care she deserved and Bella is making a wonderful recovery at the SpayMart shelter. Being a hemingway, she spends most of her day “making biscuits” with the added advantage of all six toes. This extraordinary little creature holds no grudge or resentment, and in fact, reaches out for human affection. Her recovery is a miracle, but your generosity made the miracle happen. Because of the “Felicity Fund” cats like Bella are given the opportunity to start all over. The only difference is her next home will treat her with dignity and respect, and cherish her for the wonderful cat she is.
