It was a freezing cold day in February of 2003. SpayMart received a phone call from Thibodeau Animal Control stating the shelter was in terrible disrepair. The animals were wet from a leaky roof and there was no electricity when SpayMart arrived, they discovered 8 cold, hungry cats and 5 dogs. It was apparent animal control was out of options and didn’t know what to do with the animals. SpayMart agreed to take them all because of the urgency of the situation. Another rescue group helped with the dogs. The cats were so grateful to have a clean, warm place and plenty to eat. Life was sweet and they adjusted quickly. All the cats got adopted, even Boudreaux. But he was nervous in his new home and hid under the bed. His new owner thought he was beautiful, but couldn’t understand his behavior and returned him to the Spaymart shelter. He’s gentle and loving, but needs just a little time to adjust after being sheltered so long. He promises not to disappoint.
