This handsome man survived Katrina only to face homelessness several months following the storm. His owner, an elderly gentle man, was evicted from his modest apartment, leaving 13 cats and 4 dogs homeless. Because he was facing life on the streets himself he had no choice but to call the pound and give them all up to animal control. Dogs were euthanized, but SpayMart agreed to rescue the cats. It was a difficult rescue because the cats suffered a severe respiratory infection after being released from animal control. It took weeks of intensive care at the SpayMart sanctuary to restore their health, as well as their battered spirits. But the effort paid off as each one turned out to be cuter and funnier than the next. Cuddle Buttons loves brushing, petting, cat nip and best of all, the laser light. He has been sheltered now for almost 4 years and has conquered all his inhibitions. He’s done his part—now he’s waiting for some special person to do their part, and take him to his forever home.
