SpayMart has been helping homeless animals since 1998. The organization rescued over 600 animals following hurricane Katrina and presently cares for over 275 felines. Most rescues are the result of cruelty and/or hoarding cases. Director, Lynn Chiche, receives no salary and the organization operates with a bare-bones staff, leaving the bulk of revenue for the animals.

SpayMart is a volunteer-based, nonprofit, humane organization started specifically to establish high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter and adoption programs with the mission of solving the pet overpopulation crisis in the city.
