Sparkle has lived at the SpayMart shelter for several years now and when I think of her, I feel inspired. She belonged to a hoarder and existed in one room with 100 other cats. Food and water bowls were usually empty. There was no electricity or running water. The cats knew only disease, hunger and abuse. They desperately hoped for something more, but no one seemed to hear their plea or care. If an irate neighbor hadn’t complained of stench to animal control, they might have all perished. But that phone call set everything in motion for their rescue. Rather than euthanizing over 100 cats, Animal control contacted SpayMart and asked for their help. SpayMart heard their plea and transported all 100 cats to the SpayMart shelter/sanctuary. Sparkle loves her home at the shelter. A staff member noticed a bulge at the base of her tail. She was diagnosed with perianal hernia that cannot be repaired medically. The diagnosis had little impact on Sparkles spirit as she continues to enjoy her life at the shelter. But if you really want to see her sparkle, let her light up your home!
