She still wonders how life could go from bliss to hopelessness in just 24 hours. After all, her owner was young and healthy. Who would ever suspect her dying suddenly, without any warning. But that’s what happened while 24 house cats watched helplessly. Days passed and no one came. As their owner remained motionless, food and water dwindled. The phone rang but no one was there to answer. Finally, there was a knock on the door. When no one answered, she went for help. Our rescue wasn’t easy. Some of us were feral and lived in the basement. Many escaped into the neighborhood. Others were taken by various rescue groups or friends. I ended up at the SpayMart shelter. I know I’ll always love and remember my first owner, but I miss not having a home. I just might be lucky enough to find two soul mates in this lifetime.
