“Saving & Changing Lives for Good”

MISSION: SpayMart will enhance the lives of animals in the Greater New Orleans area and the Gulf Coast region through programs directed at education, adoption, rescue and low-cost spay/neuter.

SpayMart, Inc. was founded in 1998 by Lynn Chiche and Pam Casey. Lynn had been involved in animal welfare since 1995, when she co-founded Southern Animal Foundation. SAF purchased and operated Louisiana’s first mobile spay/neuter clinic. Pam joined the Jefferson SPCA in the 1980s, launching a spay/neuter program that partnered with veterinarians across Louisiana.

In May of 1998, Lynn and Pam founded SpayMart, a non-profit organization providing spay/neuter support to pet owners, and feral cat caretakers through local veterinary partnerships. Working alongside a growing community of volunteers, Lynn and Pam brought SpayMart to the forefront of local animal welfare organizations, saving thousands of lives along the way. In 2002 SpayMart began making plans to build an affordable, high-volume spay/neuter clinic in Jefferson Parish, having secured a location and started fundraising for the buildout. Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina destroyed the site before it had a chance to open. Despite this setback, the organization continued to provide spay/neuter support services, and expanded its programs to include a shelter in Picayune, MS, a thrift store & adoption center in Metairie, and two adoption centers in New Orleans and Slidell.

Lynn and Pam have received local and national awards for their service, including from SpayUSA, the New Orleans City Council, the Louisiana SPCA, New Orleans City Business Magazine, the Alliance for Good Government, and the State of Louisiana. Pam Casey stepped away from SpayMart in 2010; Lynn has provided leadership for the organization since that time. With the help of dedicated supporters, enthusiastic volunteers, and a committed board, SpayMart plans to continue expanding its operations in the future.

SpayMart is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, EIN: 72-1418016. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
