Care before companionship
Standard Adoption Fee: $150
Your adoption fee helps support the care that prepares each cat for a new home.
Spayed or Neutered
Surgery is completed before adoption.
Core Vaccinations
FVRCP and rabies vaccinations.
FeLV / FIV Testing
Screening for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency viruses.
Microchip
Microchipping with lifetime registration included.
Parasite Prevention
Deworming and flea treatment.
Medical Records
Health records to share with your veterinarian.
How Adoption Works
Our team works with you to find a suitable match and a safe, lasting indoor home.
1. Find Your Match
Browse the cats online or meet them at our River Ridge adoption habitat.
2. Submit Your Application
Tell us about your household, rental pet policies, and veterinary history.
3. Talk With Our Team
We review your application, discuss a suitable match, and check relevant pet policies and veterinary references.
4. Welcome Your Cat Home
After approval, complete the adoption agreement and arrange pickup with your cat’s medical records.

You can also meet cats at our Elmwood PetSmart adoption location. For cats in foster homes, our team can arrange a meet-and-greet after you submit an application.

Our Seniors for Seniors program helps older adults connect with mature cats. Contact our team or visit the program page for eligibility, current fees, and available support.
Adoption Questions
What are the adoption requirements?
Applicants must be 21 or older and provide a valid government ID. Renters must have landlord approval for pets. Adopters agree to indoor-only care and no declawing, and provide a veterinary reference showing that previous or current pets are spayed/neutered and current on core vaccinations. Contact our team with questions about your circumstances.
Where can I meet a cat?
Visit our River Ridge habitat during store hours or our Elmwood PetSmart adoption location. Foster-home meetings are arranged through the adoption team after an application is submitted.
What is your policy on declawing?
SpayMart does not allow adopted cats to be declawed. Our team can help you plan for scratching posts, nail care, and other ways to protect furniture while respecting your cat’s needs.
Can I adopt two kittens together?
Yes. We encourage considering a pair of young kittens so they have a companion for play and social interaction. Ask our team about suitable pairs.
Does submitting an application guarantee an adoption?
An application starts the conversation. Our team reviews each application and works with you to find a suitable match before finalizing an adoption.
