Meet Our Cats in Person

Step into our free-roaming adoption room to socialize with cats and kittens in a stress-free, homelike environment.

What are the general adoption requirements?

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, have a valid government ID, demonstrate landlord pet policy approval (if renting), agree to keep the cat strictly indoors and never declaw, and provide a veterinary reference showing past or current pets are spayed/neutered and up to date on core vaccinations.

Where can I meet the cats in person?

You can visit our free-roaming adoption habitat inside the SpayMart Thrift Store at 8911 Jefferson Hwy in River Ridge (Tuesday–Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM), or visit our adoption kennels inside the Elmwood PetSmart (Metairie). Cats in foster care can be met via scheduled meet-and-greets after an application is submitted.

What is your policy on declawing?

SpayMart maintains a strict no-declaw policy. Declawing is an amputation of the last joint of each toe that can cause chronic pain, arthritis, and litterbox avoidance. We provide guidance, nail-trimming tips, and scratching post recommendations to maintain healthy claws safely.

Can I adopt two kittens together?

Yes! We strongly encourage adopting young kittens in pairs. Kittens adopted together socialize better, burn off energy with each other, and rarely develop behavioral problems compared to solitary young kittens.
